Detroit – Decimated By Liberalism

Anyone reading this will agree that Detroit is a Democrat-controlled city. All major offices are occupied by Democrats, from the mayor, to city council, to United States senators. The fact is, it has been controlled by liberals as long as I can remember, and a long time before I can remember. Republicans do not even run for most major offices anymore. If they do, they get a whopping 5% or less of the vote.

During the early twentieth century, Detroit was the ‘Arsenal of Democracy,’ and it literally saved the world during WWI and WWII, with tanks and other war equipment rolling off her assembly lines. But under liberal control, Detroit has gone from saving the world from Nazi Germany to having the worst crime rate in the nation.

Now, if you think the liberal Democrats have the best plan for running America, come with me for a little tour of Democrat-controlled Detroit, where:

·        Our firefighters respond to twice as many calls as New York City, yet ours do not have proper equipment. Due to the mishandling of city funds and poor economic policies, the city cannot afford proper washing of the fire gear, virtually making our firefighters walking matchsticks in their carbon-covered coats and bibs.

·        Because of a budget shortfall, many streetlights are turned off, heavily contributing to a rising crime rate.

·        Police officers continue to be laid off, also contributing to a rising crime rate. Meanwhile, city officials enjoy first-class dining— on taxpayer dollars.

·        Mayor Kilpatrick (D) is suing the city council (all Democrats), who is suing the mayor. The FBI is investigating both.

·        In his State of the City address in 2005, Mayor Kilpatrick admonished the young men of Detroit to take responsibility for their actions. He was attempting to cover a romantic relationship with his chief of staff at the same time.

The supposed comeback of the city is false. It certainly looks nice if you cruise down the Detroit River along the riverfront. It also looks great if you drive east on Interstate 94 from Taylor to downtown Detroit. If you drive through my west side neighborhood, however, you will see a much different story. You will see burned out houses, lots of trash, hopeless people, and campaign signs (for Democrats).

Before you vote on November 4, please come and pay a visit to the Motor City. This once-great city has been decimated by liberalism, and I want you to see it and think.

  1. Thanks Huckanut for giving folks a glimpse of not only politics in Detroit, but the whole eastern (I-75) corridor including Flint and Saginaw. My wife and I lived in Saginaw from 2000-2007. We can enthusiastically vouch and confirm what you have stated. I pray constantly that the good people of East MI would wake up the carnage wrought by Grandholm and Kilpatrick!
